What is OT?
Occupational Therapy (OT) has been recognized as a form of treatment for those experiencing mental health difficulties in the UK since the 1930s. The word 'occupation' refers to all activities in a person's life. Tasks, big or small, are considered occupations. OT focuses on self-care, productivity, leisure, and social aspects for those struggling with mental health.
An Occupational Therapist assists individuals in recognising their abilities and areas needing improvement. By working collaboratively, they enhance confidence in tasks that are difficult for the person.
OT is all about you, exploring your world and building a life you truly want to live for. It looks at overcoming barriers in a graded, gradual way that works for you. It provides individuals with an opportunity to problem solve, feel empowered and grow, regardless of the challenges they may be facing.
OT asks the question: ‘Who are you and what do you want for yourself?’ and then it helps you to get yourself there.

First, fill out the form on the 'Getting Booked In' page. I will review it during my working hours and contact you to schedule a consultation call. The call will help me understand your situation, identify your main challenges, and determine if Flow is the right fit for you.
-
Our first meeting will help me understand your skills, challenges, and current functioning. We can then set goals together. This appointment may take over an hour, depending on your needs. You can choose to meet by phone, Zoom, or in-person at your home or a local community space within 15 miles of SO50 (check Pricing Structure for costs).
If you need an OT assessment for a formal application, adjustments or appeals process, please mention this when filling out your ‘Getting booked in’ form.
-
Follow-up sessions are scheduled based on your preferences and needs. After about 6 sessions, we’ll review your goals to see if you want to keep working together. There’s no pressure to book more than one session at a time. An online or phone appointment generally lasts 60 minutes. Community and home visits may take longer, depending on your needs (up to 15 miles from SO50 for in-person sessions—see Pricing Structure for costs).

If you require a formal written report, we will plan and agree a deadline for this to meet your needs.
